Juice Recruitment is delighted to be working in partnership with a leading organisation supporting adults and young people with learning disabilities and/or autism, with the appointment of a Baker/Cook to join a Café within a Garden Centre, in Colwyn Bay.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Cook or Chef with a strong background in a commercial kitchen environment who takes pride in preparing quality homemade food and has a real passion for baking. Alongside preparing nutritious meals, cakes, scones, traybakes and other café products, you will also support individuals with learning difficulties to develop practical cooking, catering and workplace skills in a real-world café environment.
DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparing and cooking quality homemade meals, snacks and drinks
- Baking a range of cakes, scones, traybakes and other café products
- Planning seasonal menus and ordering ingredients within budget
- Adapting meals to accommodate allergies and specialist dietary requirements
- Supporting individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism to take part in cooking and café activities
- Encouraging independence, confidence and participation through practical, meaningful activities
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen standards
- Managing stock, maintaining records and completing daily till reconciliation
- Working closely with colleagues to support individuals in achieving their personal goals
WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE:
- Strong baking skills with confidence producing cakes, scones, traybakes and other café products
- Previous experience preparing and cooking quality homemade meals consistently
- Experience working within a commercial kitchen environment
- A food hygiene qualification, or willingness to obtain one
- A patient, encouraging approach and a genuine passion for supporting people to develop their skills
- Experience supporting people with learning disabilities and/or autism would be advantageous
AND FOR YOU:
- Full-time, 37 hours per week – working 5 days from 7, including weekend working and occasional evenings
- A varied role combining cooking, baking, hospitality and person-centred support
